I am so impressed with how well you put the reality of the paras in to words. I had the privilege of attending the games. My husband was the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Team and he strongly felt that myself and our two children, ages 10 and 11, needed to experience this amazing celebration of skill and immense dedication. I wish I could express how lucky I felt to be a part of the 'wall of noise'. Now if only we could convince the media to cover it as well as the Olympics are covered. Thank you! Darlene

Well said Kenny. Proud of you.

Remember the day we went to Buckingham Palace....

...that was fun.

Thanks, MIL.

Thank you, Darlene! Kudos to you for exposing your kids to that kind of experience. The next time the Paras are in a city which isn't too distant (cost prohibitive) for family tavel, I will ABSOLUTELY briing them along. I know they would be completely amazed.

I have experienced the Paralympics through my cousin, Elisabeth Walker-Young (The Assistant Chef de Mission for the Canadian Team). The work she put in as an athlete and an advocate is staggering.

We need more journalists like you to change the public's mind about these differently-able athletes and their sports. They will not get the same recognition as the able-bodied sports until there is equal coverage through the media.

Kenny Bodanis

Hi Christine,

Thanks for reading. Elizabeth was integral to my appreciation of the Paralympics. Listening to her - both during and after broadcasts - was an education. Now we need to transmit that knowledge and enthusiasm to a wider audience.
