I think we do have a far way left to go. It's amazing that after so many years on this planet, many men still don't understand women and many women don't understand men as much as they could either. I'm speaking generally here. Of course there are people who don't attach stereotypes to either gender.

Anyhow, some of what is expected of parents is based on the understanding that people have of their role in society. If a man was raised to be a father, he will be more understanding and teach his kids well.
